Arne L. Bygdås is a Senior Researcher at the Work Research Institute at Oslo Metropolitan University. His research interests include knowledge and learning in organizations, organizational creativity and innovation, practice-based research, and organizational becoming. He holds a PhD in Strategy and Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Aina Landsverk Hagen is a Senior Researcher at the Work Research Institute, Oslo Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Oslo on collaborative creativity among architects in Oslo and New York. She worked in several media outlets as a desk journalist and copy editor, before moving on to become a researcher. Her work on innovation in media organizations focuses on the topics creativity, idea development and audience engagement. She has published two books, one on online harassment towards journalists and editors in Norway (2015), and a handbook on ethnographic fieldwork methods (2016).
Ivar John Erdal is an Associate Professor at Volda University College, Norway. His research interest lies mainly in digital journalism, mobile media, cross-media production and organisation studies, and his work has appeared in journals such as Journalism Studies, Convergence, and Journalism Practice. Erdal earned his Ph.D. in media studies from the University of Oslo in 2008, on a study of digital news production and cross-media journalism at the Norwegian public service broadcaster NRK.
Bente Kalsnes is an Associate Professor at the Departement of Communication, Kristiania University College, but was at the time of the project at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Oslo Metropolitan University. Her main research areas are media innovation, social media, political communication and information disorder. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Oslo with the dissertation The power of likes: Social media logic and political communication (2016).
Maria Norbäck is a researcher and senior lecturer at the School of Business, Economics and Law at Gothenburg University. She studies how media companies and media work is organized. She is especially interested in how media organizations balance the inherent tensions between journalism and commerce, how digitalization and social media are changing the media industry, and how the media labour market is transforming. In her PhD dissertation Norbäck studied people producing collaborative public service TV programs.
Elena Raviola is a Professor of Business and Design at the University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on media industries, with particular interest in news organizations and the transformation of news production and journalism in relation to digitization. She has conducted ethnographic studies in several news organizations in Italy, Sweden and France. Her research has been published in Organization Studies, Journal of Change Management, Information, Communication and Society, Journal of Media Business Studies, International Journal of Media Management as well as in several edited volumes.
Sara Berge Lorenzen
is a research assistant for the OMEN project at the Work Research Institute, Oslo Metropolitan University. She holds a MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Oslo, Norway. Based on six months of ethnographic fieldwork among young media entrepreneurs in Delhi, India, she wrote the thesis: “Hey Baby, I Have a Start-up!”: An ethnographic account of media start-ups in Delhi, India, their fight for societal change and the start-up network they are a part of. Sara is particularly interested in research on urban anthropology, media, start-up culture and innovation.
